TOGETHER WITH
Good morning, Annapolis. A Chinese car company just filed a patent for a voice-activated "in-vehicle toilet" that slides out from under a passenger seat. What could go wrong. . .
No, Siri, I said "Flush it" not "Floor it!"
In today’s Naptown Scoop:
Liquor at the barbershop
Earth Day beer & plant sales
Uncharted grand opening
Let’s get to it.

Eastport Views, Thoughtfully Framed
Some homes are about space. This one is about perspective.
At 219 ½ Lockwood Court, the view takes center stage, stretching across Spa Creek toward Annapolis and the harbor beyond. A reverse floor plan places the main living spaces where they belong, above it all, filled with light and movement from the water.
The kitchen, dining, and living areas flow together with ease, opening to an expansive deck that becomes an extension of the home. Mornings feel slower here. Evenings linger a little longer.
A primary suite with fireplace and deck access offers a private retreat, while additional bedrooms and flexible spaces make room for guests or quiet workdays.
Outside, layered spaces including a covered deck, stone seating areas, and yard invite you to step out and stay awhile.
Walk to Eastport, cross to downtown, or take the water taxi. However you get there, it all starts here.

GOVERNMENT
Recapping Monday’s County Council meeting
Monday's County Council session opened with a resolution designating April 30 National Therapy Animal Day, with Murphy, Charlotte, and Tucker on hand for the honors. From there, it was straight into a long agenda.
The headliners:
Battery storage (Bill 9-26): Passed 7-0. Sets county rules for front-of-the-meter battery energy storage systems — conditional-use standards, NFPA fire-code alignment, and expedited review for certain projects. Testimony called it among the first bills of its kind in Maryland.
Region 5 (Bills 17-26 and 18-26): Comprehensive rezoning covering Odenton, Piney Orchard, Gambrills, Woodwardville, Crofton, and Two Rivers moved through a round of amendments. Bill 18-26 takes effect May 31.
Three PILOTs for affordable and workforce housing: Homes at Shelly in Glen Burnie (60 units), plus Odenton Junction Four (72 units) and Nine (50 units) — all 40-year payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreements tied to income-restricted housing.
Also on the agenda: a tax credit for day care property improvements (Bill 19-26), a $900,551 MTA grant for a new hybrid bus (Resolution 8-26), a public-ethics bill on campaign contributions and development disclosures (Bill 23-26), and an emergency moratorium on new development in the Baltimore City Sewer Service Area (Bill 24-26).
Members also voted 7-0 to override a line-item veto from County Executive Steuart Pittman on Bill 4-26, restoring an amendment that rezoned a parcel at 865 Governor Bridge Road in Davidsonville from Rural Agricultural to Residential Low Density.
Save this date: County Executive Pittman is delivering his FY27 budget message on May 1.

Dog of the Week: Meet Wheelbarrow 🐾
With a name like Wheelbarrow, this guy might make you think he’s a big brute, but this 2-year-old pitbull is about 60 pounds — pretty typical for a male pitbull, but still a size medium in the grand scheme of dog sizes. And how could anyone be intimidated by that big derpy smile? This guy is clearly a big teddy bear.
He arrived at the shelter as a stray earlier this month, and staff at Anne Arundel County Animal Services say he’s much happier if he’s around other dogs. We’re sure he would also be happier if he were around other dogs at a place he can call home in the long term. So if you already have a four-legged kid/roommate or two and you’re looking to welcome one more, your home might be the right place for Wheelbarrow. Bad news though. Although his name might imply it, Wheelbarrow told shelter staff he does not plan to help with the yardwork.

The Season of "We Should Probably Get That Fixed” Is Back
You can tell it’s spring in Annapolis because suddenly, everything outside your house starts demanding attention at once. The deck needs “a quick refresh,” the windows are questionable, and the outdoor cushions are still in that vague state between “stored” and “ruined.”
And somehow, it’s already May next week.
That’s where Gold Seal Services comes in.
We’re talking all the stuff you were absolutely going to handle on a nice weekend (but then it was too nice, and then it rained, and then it was somehow football season again). Seasonal tune-ups, outdoor prep, small fixes, system checks, basically all the things that sound just daunting enough that you've convinced yourself they can wait til next year.
Think of it as getting your home summer-ready so you can actually enjoy summer.
Not spend it Googling “why is my AC doing that sound” while standing in front of a fan that’s just… moving warm air around.
Let us handle the maintenance. You handle the porch sitting.

✂️ Cheers: A bill awaiting Gov. Wes Moore's signature would let Anne Arundel salons and barbershops serve 1.7 oz of liquor per customer during service — adding to the beer and wine they can already pour. The push came from Steve Frid, owner of Hammer & Nails, a luxury men's grooming spot set to open at Annapolis Harbour Center this summer. ($)
🚶 Walk this way: MDOT's State Highway Administration is holding a public workshop this Wednesday, April 29 (5–7 PM) on proposed pedestrian and bike safety improvements along West Street between Solomons Island Road and Spa Road.
