TOGETHER WITH
Good morning, Annapolis. Yesterday, we advertised an event that’s been canceled. If you were planning on attending Annapolis’ Graveyard Groove adults-only Halloween party at Pip Moyer, you will want to make other arrangements. Allow us to suggest inviting all of your friends with dogs over for a doggy costume party.
In today’s Naptown Scoop:
Brand-new blood bus
Ferry boats
New police advocacy group
Let’s get to it.

GRAVY TRAIN
Hear me out: Thanksgiving but you don’t cook 🦃
Let’s be real. Thanksgiving is a hard meal to cook. You’ve got a huge turkey, maybe a ham, six or seven sides, and for the overachievers . . . dessert. Although thankfully, dessert’s pretty easy to buy. On top of it just being a lot of dishes, turkey’s hard to cook well. The secret is pre-salting btw. Two days early. Cover that bird up (1% of the total weight). Trust me.
So anyhow, if you don’t want to cook, here’s where you can eat this Thanksgiving. And it goes without saying that you should make a reservation now.
🦪 Severn Inn – Alongside one of the best views in town, you’ll enjoy a buffet with all the classics plus a raw bar, salmon and crabcakes, and crab dip. Seatings run noon to 5 PM. Reserve here ($89 adults, $45 kids 5–12).
⛵ Carrol’s Creek – Another stellar view with a semi-prix fixe menu featuring some Carrol’s favorites (like herb-encrusted rockfish) alongside classics (turkey dinner) and some wildcards (rack of New Zealand lamb). Book a table for four or fewer on Resy, or call 410-263-8102 for bigger groups. Details.
🍂 Chart House Prime – Butter-and-sage roasted turkey with cornbread stuffing on Spa Creek, or a three-course menu with prime rib if you’re done with turkey. Want to stay home but still not cook? They’ve got to-go family packs for three to four. Order by 4 PM on November 23. Details.
🌴 Rumhouse – Feeling adventurous? Rumhouse is offering a prix fixe three-course meal of Caribbean takes on Thanksgiving classics. Book on Tock.
🥩 Ruth’s Chris – Yes, the full steak menu is on the table. But there’s also turkey breast with sausage and herb stuffing available. And pumpkin cheesecake. And they do sides to go. Reserve and order here.
🥧 Chef Big Money’s pies – We can’t write a Thanksgiving list without Chef Big Money. Apple, cherry, pecan, sweet potato, and blueberry crumble. Order at his stand at the Riva Road farmers market on Saturday mornings, or text 443-223-2895.
You’ve still got about a month. But if you follow our advice, you can have the whole day planned in a couple clicks.
P.S. Did we miss any? Let us know!

Dog of the Week: Meet Courage 🐾
Courage got his name for a reason. Somebody abandoned him, and he showed up at the SPCA in June in rough shape. But you’d never guess it now.
This two-year-old pit bull mix greets everyone with kisses and butt wiggles. You can tell he wants to jump on you. But he’s pretty good at mastering that impulse and offering his wiggly butt for pets instead. Good boy.
He walks well on a leash, passes other dogs without any drama, and loves to show off his sit for a treat. Volunteers think somebody house-trained him at some point, because he waits for his walk to go potty. Good boy again. He’s also a big puddle guy. Loves stomping in them. Maybe not so good.
After a walk, he curls up in his bed and watches you with big eyes and his big ole block head. Lean down to pet him and he’ll circle back and lean into you.
If you’ve got a spot on the couch and have always wanted a good excuse to Amazon Prime some doggy rain boots, start an application to meet Courage today.

When you claim Social Security can make a big difference in your retirement. Depending on your monthly benefit and how long you live, waiting until age 70 instead of claiming at 62 could mean $200,000 or more in additional benefits over your lifetime.
For every year you delay past your Full Retirement Age, your benefit grows by 8%, up until age 70. And if you're married, your decision could also affect the survivor benefits your spouse receives.
But waiting isn't always the right move. Your health, income, and overall retirement plan all play a role in finding the right time to claim.

FERRY TALE ENDING?
Annapolis’ ferry plan takes over City Council ⛴️
What do Annapolis and Grey’s Anatomy’s Derek Shepherd have in common? They both have a thing for ferry boats.
The city has a federal grant to cover most of a $3.5 million plan for two hybrid-electric ferries that would hold about 15 people each. Problem is, grants like these are use-it-or-lose-it. And the city has to cough up the other 15% ($525,000).
Officials estimate the ferry would cost $166,000 a year and generate $74,500 (a $91,500 gap for the folks at home). Unsurprisingly, that cost was the biggest complaint. People also want to know what’s wrong with the current water taxis.
There was no vote. The council sent it to the Transportation and Economic Matters committees, and Mayor Littmann wants RFPs out ASAP.
📅 Backstory: Annapolis has been investigating the possibility of an all-electric or hybrid-electric ferry since 2021.
Elsewhere. . .
Your driveway, your spot: You and your guests can now park in front of your own driveway on streets with parking on both sides, outside permit parking districts.
Rooms for rent: Long-term room rentals in a home you own are now legal.
Food trucks: They’re back at downtown special events.
Big horses: Fees are waived for the Budweiser Clydesdales visit for the Military Bowl.

In other news. . .
🛡️ On Guard – A group of Annapolis police officers has started an advocacy group for minority officers in the department. It’s called the Annapolis Guard and president Officer First Class Daryl Murphy says the goal is fair treatment, not special treatment. Acting chief Amy Miguez says she welcomes it. ($)
🌎 Climate Check – The city just released its 2026 Climate Action Plan. The goal is to cut local greenhouse gas emissions 57% below 2024 levels by 2045. And eventually get to net zero. The plan lays out 20 projects across buildings, transportation, waste, and land use. One you might like: a city helper who walks residents and businesses through permits and stacking energy rebates. Read the full plan.
🎨 Small Grants, Big Ideas – The Arts Council of Anne Arundel County is giving out mini grants of up to $2,500 for arts projects happening January through June 2027. Groups that didn’t get one of these grants last cycle get priority. Along with projects in parts of the county with little access to art. Applications close Saturday. Apply here.
🩸 Bus Stop – Luminis Health has a new Blood Donor Bus to bring drives to neighborhoods, schools, and workplaces. Want to give soon? Luminis drives are set for Saturday in Edgewater (Gaines Flipping Houses & Chesapeake Spas), Monday at Ginger Cove, November 13 at Sheehy Lexus of Annapolis, and November 16 at AACC. The Blood Donor Center at AAMC takes donors every weekday too. Book a slot here.
⚽ Shoot Your Shot – Want to wear one of those slick new jerseys somewhere other than the stands? The Annapolis Blues are holding winter open tryouts for both teams on Saturday, November 28, at Indian Creek School in Crownsville. The men play in USL League Two and the women play in the USL W League, so this is pretty high-level soccer but we believe in you. Even if it is the Saturday after Thanksgiving. . . . Register here.
