Marylanders take their crab soup seriously. On Saturday, September 13, the Maryland Seafood Festival serves up its Annual Crab Soup Cook-Off — the highlight of day one.

For $15, you’ll score a tasting ticket and sample Cream of Crab, Vegetable Crab, and a few surprise spins. Over 1,000 soup lovers will crowd the tent to sip, slurp, and vote for the People’s Choice winner. Think your favorite restaurant’s got what it takes? There’s only one way to find out.

We’re putting this out ahead of the three-day weekend because we’re not Scooping Tuesday morning: Tuesday’s County Council meeting is at 7 PM at the Arundel Center (44 Calvert Street, Annapolis). This collaborative project between the Office of Equity and Human Rights Office and ArundelStat aims to help policymakers, departments, and community leaders figure out where help is needed most and what decisions can improve residents’ lives.
