Good morning, Annapolis. Did you know that it’s 100% legal to escape from prison in Germany? If they catch you, there’s no time added to your sentence. Any actually illegal stuff you do on the lam counts against you, but the running away itself is fair game.
In today’s Naptown Scoop:
Navy’s biggest home opener since 2013
ASO drops Russian violinist
Home run derby
Let’s get to it.

Wake Up to Waterfront: Spa Creek Living for $825K
Picture sipping coffee on your stone patio as sunrise breaks over Spa Creek and Historic Annapolis comes into view. This entry-level residence at The Point on Spa Creek delivers exactly that, with no steps to navigate and an easy lock-and-leave lifestyle just steps from the clubhouse, pool, and docks.
Inside, hardwood floors and water views set the tone, while a clever Murphy bed alcove keeps guest space ready without sacrificing style. Two private patios, one waterside and one tucked by the dining room, give you options for entertaining or quiet mornings alike.
The Point's amenities read like a resort brochure: deep-water slips, water taxis to downtown Annapolis, a pool, tennis and pickleball, even a kayak launch. Add in EV charging and pet-friendly policies, and this Eastport gem checks every box.

RUSH HOUR
Navy ran the ball 73 times on Saturday. That’s vintage Navy ball right there.
The Mids beat Towson 42–15, and the crowd of 32,654 was Navy's biggest for a home opener since 2013 against Delaware.
New starting quarterback Braxton Woodson, who spent two seasons backing Blake Horvath (big shoes to fill), ran for 200 yards and three touchdowns. Big shoes = filled. As a team, Navy piled up 506 rushing yards, the 12th-most in program history, and held the ball for 39:50 of the 60 minutes.
Also worth knowing: senior Vic Listorti scored the first touchdown of his career on a 35-yard run. He came into the game with three carries to his name.
Coach Brian Newberry liked what he saw from Woodson and did not like what he saw from the pass defense, which he called "a little bit sloppy" after Towson threw for 208 yards and two scores on 18 attempts.
🚌 Road trip: Next up is a three-game road stretch which includes the American Conference opener against FAU this Saturday at 7:30 PM. The Mids don’t play in Admiral Heights again until October 10.
Fun fact: When Navy beat FAU in 2017, it was the first game for a young head coach named Lane Kiffin.

🐾 Dog of the Week: Princess Petunia
Princess Petunia has been waiting for a home since July 31, 2025. Thirteen months is a long time for a thirteen-year-old dog.
She has spent those thirteen months in a foster home instead of a kennel, but that’s like spending a six-hour layover in the first-class lounge. At the end of the day, it’s still a long time. The SPCA of Anne Arundel County says the red-and-white pit bull mix is a senior in years only. She still asks for walks, plays with toys, and jumps for joy when the mood hits.
The rest of the day belongs to cozy dog beds. Petunia will snooze for hours as long as somebody’s in the room. She gets a wee bit anxious left alone too long, so she needs a house with someone home most of the time and a routine she can count on.
Thirteen years old and still up for an adventure, as long as there is a couch at the end of it. Meet Petunia.

In other news. . .
☕ Grounds for Concern: Times are tough at City Dock. Four closed businesses in 12 months is proof of that. But Storm Bros is determined to endure (50 years next month). So they’re adding a coffee shop (complete with several former Bitty & Beau’s employees) at the front of the store. It’s called Storm’s a Brewing and we are loving the menu (and prices). We also love that the eggs come from Sveinn Storm’s own farm!
🎻 Change of Program: Russian violinist Vadim Repin will no longer play alongside the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra this November. The change comes after significant online backlash (including the Embassy of Ukraine) and threats of protest at Maryland Hall. Repin’s no stranger to schedule changes. Groups in Italy, Hungary, Germany, and Palm Beach have all dropped him this year over Kremlin ties.
🛋️ Elm Sweet Elm: West Elm is now open at Annapolis Town Center. The furniture and home goods chain cut the ribbon September 3 in Suite 127 at 1905 Towne Centre Blvd, four years after it was first announced. They even have designers who will visit your home for a free consultation.
⚾ Hey Batter Batter: The Peninsula Athletic League is throwing a home run derby and fall festival – the Swashbuckler Slugfest – at PAL Park on Saturday, October 3. $25 (for kids) or $50 (for 9th grade and up) gets you 10 swings. And while it’s not the $1 million the MLB gives, the open division champ will get $1,000. The high school prize is $250 to DICK’S and the kids prize is $100 to DICK’S.
🚨 Camera Ready: All six of the city’s speed cameras have been running 24 hours a day, seven days a week since Tuesday, residential streets included. For the record, they sit at 919 Cedar Park Road (westbound), 1399 Forest Drive (both directions), 190 Hilltop Lane, 111 Chinquapin Round Road (southbound), and Route 665 at Chinquapin Round Road.
