TOGETHER WITH
Good morning, Annapolis. On this day in 2005, YouTube co-founder Jawed Karim uploaded YT’s first ever video, Me at the zoo, a 19-second clip that now has 388 million views. Jawed never uploaded another video. Which is sad because he clearly had potential as a wildlife influencer.

SIGN OF THE SEASON
This weekend: Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show

If Annapolis is America's Sailing Capital, then the Spring Sailboat Show is its opening day ceremony.
The Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show takes over City Dock this Friday through Sunday and the lineup is stacked. New and brokerage sailboats (monohulls, catamarans, daysailers, family cruisers) are all tied up and waiting to be boarded (here’s how without getting fussed at). Admission is $20. Kids 14 and under are free. Hours are 10 AM–6 PM Friday and Saturday, and 10 AM–5 PM Sunday.
A few things we think are worth knowing:
Mimosa Sunday is a thing. Show up Sunday between 10 AM and noon and the No Wake Zone is pouring complimentary mimosas. Sponsored by Renewal by Andersen. 21+ only.
The Foulest Foulies Contest. Gill Marine is celebrating the sailors still grinding in gear that should've been retired thirteen seasons ago. If your foulies look like they survived a hurricane, enter here for a brand new set of foulies you can enter in the 2046 show.
Never sailed? There's a First Sail Workshop that gets total beginners on the water — 45 minutes in the classroom, then 90 minutes on the Bay with ASA-certified instructors. Saturday morning also has an "Ask Me Anything About Sailing" session at 10 AM (coffee and donuts included). BoatUS seminars run all weekend covering everything from lithium batteries to gunkholing the Chesapeake.

LOCAL HISTORY
‘The Dynasty’ Celebration of 1979, 1980, 1981 🥍 ⚜️

What do the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Mary’s lacrosse from 1979–1981 have in common?
Dominance.
The “little school in Annapolis” didn’t win Super Bowls, but they did build a dynasty with a 35-game winning streak — toppling Baltimore powerhouses and elite public programs. No small task in our state.
Legendary Head Coach Jim Morehead and Assistant Coach Joe Devlin didn’t just assemble talent — they built a true team. Many players earned All-American honors and joined top college programs like Maryland, UNC, Johns Hopkins, Navy, and Harvard.
As Tim Mealey (class of 1981) recalls, “Morehead took raw talent and used motivation to transcend players beyond their physical abilities.”
Mealey’s teammates included: Chucky Ruland, Jimmy Ellis, Jimmy Stewart, Costa Alvanos, Adam Morgan, Brian Wood, Craig Bubier, Mike Burnett, Andy Smith, Ray Crosby, Roger Donogan, Steve Voelkel, Todd Wood, Tony Olmert, Alan McGuckian, Jimmy Conley, Chris Bullen, Eddie Cox, Mike Voelkel, Mike Olmert, Lee Davidson, Chris Walker, Tony Orsini, Danny Andrews, John Floyd Jones, Bernie Augustaffer, Doug Poindexter, Frank Andrews, Greg Orsini, and Chris Couglin.
The streak ended in 1981 with a hard-fought overtime loss to Calvert Hall after a broken-down bus delayed their arrival and the refs denied them a warmup. An unfamiliar setback for a team defined by consistency.
Now, the legacy lives on. On May 9, Mealey returns to the goal at the Lacrosse Bull Roast & Big Easy 3x3 Tourney at St. Mary’s field. You can take two shots on him for $10, with Mealey matching $5 per goal. Proceeds benefit the St. Mary’s Royal Blue Club which supports St. Mary’s athletics.
Besides the shootout, expect live music, great food, and a 3v3 tournament at this family-friendly get together.

In other news. . .
☕ Caffeine on wheels: There’s a new coffee truck in town. Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck is now open for business. Much like its sister company Kona Ice, Travelin’ Toms doesn’t serve drinks in the same place everyday. Instead, it’s primarily found at community events, weddings, and the like. Check it out.
🏀 Head of Hoops: Anne Arundel Community College announced the hiring of Delonte Joyce as head men’s basketball coach last week. Delonte’s a superstar in the Annapolis Summer League and previously was an assistant coach at Chesapeake College. If you didn’t know, AACC offers 6 men’s sports and 7 women’s sports and that even includes Esports.
🎸 Rock the Dock is back. The Rotary Club of Annapolis is throwing their annual fundraiser on June 4 at the Annapolis Maritime Museum (6–10 PM) with all-you-can-eat BBQ, live music from Loose Ties, a crush bar, silent auction, and bay views. This year's proceeds benefit The Blue Ribbon Program, which supports foster youth across Maryland. Grab tickets here.
