TOGETHER WITH
Good morning, Annapolis. You might know Robert Redford for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, All the President’s Men, or The Sting. But his work as narrator of 2016’s National Parks Adventure is honestly a can’t miss. I’m not kidding.
In today’s Naptown Scoop:
Where to Pick Apples this Fall
More Development at Bay Bridge Marina
Dog of the Week
Let’s get to it.
— Lauren Burke Meyer, Dylan Roche, & Duffy Perkins
P.S. Sorry we’re a little late this morning. I intended to put in preliminary primary election results after the gym but completely forgot about it until right now (7:42 AM). Enjoy the Scoop and have a great Wednesday.

Poll results: How much do y’all think 1750 Forest Drive will sell for?
Yesterday’s poll on the sale price of 1750 had a clear winner – Under $24 million with 41% of the vote. The next closest was $29–33.9M with 20%. As for the 3 voters who picked over $48 million, wouldn’t the investors who bought it love for you to be right. Only time will tell.

Dog the Week: Meet Baby 🐾
Oh Baby — we have a problem. Lauren’s daughter helped pick this week’s pup, and they BOTH fell in love with Baby . . . Can you blame them? He’s the perfect blend of sweet, silly, smart, and spunky. At five, he’s a seasoned pup with a puppy-like zest for life. Basically, no one puts Baby in a corner (sorry, we had to). The Terrier/American Pit Bull mix is game for runs, hikes, or chasing food trucks. Goofy yet lovable, he’s the total package. Baby can be iffy around new people (or other dogs), so a few meet-and-greets may be needed. Fetch him fast at the SPCA before Lauren’s fam scoops him up.

NAPTOWN SCOOP LOCAL BUSINESS IS POWERED BY. . .
Fall Farms and Orchards 🎃🍎
Guys, it’s time to get basic. Sweater weather is coming, so here’s where to soak up all the fall vibes. Anne Arundel County isn’t big on apple picking, but these farms are worth the drive. Don’t forget a hat, sturdy shoes, and sunscreen (this is still Maryland after all).
Kent Fort Farm | 135 Eastern Lane, Stevensville | Asian pears and apples make a quick Bay Bridge trip worth it. Pumpkin patch and hayride run September 27-October 26. Open Saturday and Sunday, 11 AM to 4 PM. Cash/check only.
Larriland Farm | 2415 Woodbine Road, Woodbine | In fall, look for apples (Crimson and Autumn Crisp), broccoli, beets, and pumpkins. Hurry to scoop up raspberries and tomatoes, too. Call 410-442-2605 before visiting to confirm what’s ripe. Open through October 31: Saturday/Sunday (9 AM to 5 PM), and Tuesday-Friday (9 AM to 6 PM).
Miller Farms | 10140 Piscataway Road, Clinton | Fresh tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, kale, cantaloupes, and more. Produce hours: Monday-Sunday (8 AM to 7 PM); Sunday (9 AM to 5 PM).
Fall Family Fun (corn maze, hayride, and play areas) runs October 4-November 2, Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets are $15 (free for kids under 24 months).
Gaver Farm | 5501 Detrick Road, Mt. Airy | The longest drive, but always top of mind. U-pick apples/pumpkins, free hay rides, and a Fall Fun Fest through November 2 (10 AM to 6 PM daily) make this a must-visit.
New biz, who dis? 👀
It’s always great to see a new business opening (or expanding) in the area. Not only does it mean more jobs and more dollars for our local economy, but it also means more options for us as consumers. In fact, according to the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporations semimonthly New and Expanding List for July-August 2025, we saw 68 new businesses over those two months. In this case, “new” means a business might have opened within the county or might have relocated here, expanded with an additional location, or changed ownership. This brings the Anne Arundel total to 256 so far this year.
🔎 What’s new? One of the perks of being a Scoop reader is that you’re already pretty savvy about some of the new businesses because we reported on them. For example, you already know Black Market Bakers expanded to a brick-and-mortar location, Great Harvest Bread is under new ownership, The Main Cottage opened on Conduit Street, and Mary’s Bridal Boutique relocated to Annapolis Street, among other business news.
Coming summer 2026: Wilson’s Cove 🛟
Drive across the Bay Bridge and you’ll pass by one of the area’s premier event venues, the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club. AKA my high school place of employment. It started as just a wedding venue (where I was an exemplary parking lot attendant) in 1999, added the 77-room Inn and Knoxie’s Table in 2015, and now, it’s growing again.
Next year, CBBC will open a 32-room waterfront hotel overlooking the Hinckley Bay Bridge Marina. Each room will have a private balcony with a water view — not too shabby. It will also have a landscaped pool deck, a rooftop bar (yes, rooftop!), and activity lawns. If anyone needs us, we’ll be coming up with an excuse to book a staycation next summer.

💸 The Bay Bridge Marina has been Queen Anne County’s hottest investment area for the last few years. It started when Petrie Ventures and McGrath Development bought the marina and Hemingway’s Restaurant in 2021. Petrie opened Libbey’s Coastal Kitchen where Hemingway’s was in 2022. Luxury American yacht builder Hinckley bought the marina earlier this year. Petrie Ventures is also building 28 luxury residences being sold by a well-known name to Naptown Scoop readers, Brad Kappel.
