TOGETHER WITH
Good morning, Annapolis. The summer solstice slipped past us this weekend, which means – cruel as it sounds – the days are already getting shorter. Don't spiral. We've still got the whole summer ahead, plenty of boat days, and zero good reasons to think about a sweater unless you’re going to Nantucket (low temp = 63ºF today).
In today’s Naptown Scoop:
July bucket list
Theater Talk Tuesday
Farmers Market Roundup
Let’s get to it.

RED, WHITE, AND BOOM
What’s worth leaving the AC for this July
Annapolis really stands out in July. First we’ve got Independence Day. Which is always a big deal but is an even bigger deal this year for America 250. And after that, it’s peak summer. There are outdoor concerts almost daily, outdoor plays, and so many boat days to be enjoyed.
There’s also the World Cup, a hilarious SNL cast member at Ram’s Head, and the Annapolis Blues!

CREAM OF THE CROP
A guide to the farmers markets near Annapolis 🌽
Strawberries had their day. Now it’s blueberries, peaches, raspberries, and most importantly. . . watermelon season. And the best place to get them isn’t a windowless warehouse, it’s a farmers market.
Anne Arundel County has several great options, so we rounded them all up for you. A few worth circling:
The big one: The Anne Arundel County Farmers' Market at Riva Road and Harry S. Truman Parkway is producer-only, so everything was grown or made by the person selling it. Saturdays 7 AM to noon, plus Sundays 9 AM to noon year-round. Leave the dog home – none allowed.
Up the road: Severna Park's market runs Saturdays 8 a.m. to noon at the Ritchie Highway Park & Ride through October.
Prefer to shop after work? SoCo at the Deale Library goes Thursdays 4 to 7 PM. And if you don’t mind a lil’ drive, Honey’s Harvest Farm has a wonderful market in Lothian.

ARTS & CULTURE
Theater Talk Tuesday 🎭
Now playing…
🍸 Classic Theatre of Maryland presents Tartuffe in the garden at Reynolds Tavern, Tuesday nights through August 25 – including tonight. Molière's takedown of a smooth-talking religious fraud, played under the stars. Seating opens at 6:30 for dinner, curtain at 7:30; tickets run $61–89 with a $25 food-and-drink minimum.
Up next…
🎹 Annapolis Summer Garden Theatre presents Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, July 2–25. The open-air stage at the City Dock traces a Brooklyn songwriter named Carole Klein on her way to becoming Carole King. Thursday through Sunday at 8:30, tickets $32 – and you'll know every song before the band finishes the intro.
🔪 The Talent Machine presents Curtains, July 10–19. A backstage whodunit musical where the leading lady drops dead on opening night and a showtune-obsessed detective takes the case. The company's teens stage it at AACC's Pascal Center; tickets are $20.
🎭 The Colonial Players present their 10-Minute Play Festival, July 17–26. Seven brand-new plays from local writers, each one over before you'd finish a beer, all for $10 at the East Street theater-in-the-round.

In other news. . .
🗳️ Civic Duty Calls – It's primary day. Polls across Anne Arundel County are open from 7 AM to 8 PM today. This is the gubernatorial primary, so you're picking party nominees for governor, Congress, the MD General Assembly, and local county offices. Double-check your polling spot before you head out.
🎓 Poached – Anne Arundel's loss is Baltimore County's gain. Dr. William Heiser, AACPS COO, has been picked as Baltimore County's next school superintendent. He starts July 1, taking the reins of the state's third-largest school system and 110,000-plus students. Heiser once worked as a principal in Baltimore County, so he's heading back to where he started.
🎒 Pack Mentality – Summer just started, but Anne Arundel County is already thinking about August. The Department of Social Services' Back to School Program, now in its fourth decade, pairs donors with low-income elementary students who need backpacks and supplies to start the year. You get a child's supply list, buy the items (usually $50 to $75), and drop them at the school. Sign up through the donor form.
⚽ Father's Day Sweep – Not the good kind. Both Annapolis Blues teams got shut out at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Sunday. The women fell 1-0 to Virginia Beach United, in a game where Talia Gabarra's first-half shot clanged off the crossbar and looked like it crossed the line before officials waved it off. The men lost 3-0 to Northern Virginia FC. The women sit fourth in the Chesapeake Division; the men, sixth.
