TOGETHER WITH
Good morning, Annapolis. We were today years old when we learned the ZIP in ZIP code stands for Zone Improvement Plan, the five-digit system the U.S. Postal Service launched in 1963 to speed up mail. Still not as fast as our emails — no zip code required. 📧
In today’s Naptown Scoop:
Annapolis Blues tryouts
Streetcars in DTA
How many green bagels
Let’s get to it.

Craftsman Living with Water Access in Epping Forest

Tucked within the gated waterfront community of Epping Forest, this Craftsman-style home offers a peaceful setting near the mouth of Clements Creek and the Severn River. A private sandy beach and deep-water pier with a 12,000 lb boat lift provide easy access for boating, paddleboarding, and exploring the waterways surrounding Annapolis.
Set on a wooded 0.39 acre homesite with filtered water views, the renovated residence offers more than 3,000 square feet across three finished levels with four bedrooms and four full baths. The main living spaces are filled with natural light, with a kitchen, dining area, and living room with fireplace opening to a screened porch and elevated deck among the trees.
Upstairs, two ensuite bedrooms include a primary suite with treetop views and glimpses of the water. The walk-out lower level adds a family room, guest space, office flexibility, and patio.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Naptown Scoop finally has an events calendar

Naptown Scoop
Remember two weeks ago when I teased two exciting announcements? This is number one.
After 6 years, we finally created an events calendar worth sharing. We’re still going to highlight events in these newsletters. If you want to see even more, that’s where this calendar comes in. But that’s not what I’m most excited about.
You can submit events. We have many great events already, but we know we haven’t found every single great event in this town. That’s where you come in.
On top of submitting (which costs $0 and always will), there are also ways for hosts to give their events a little extra juice – both on the calendar itself and in this newsletter.
I am stoked to finally tell you about this. Submitting events is easy. Just click the “Submit event” link in the Scoop Essentials section. It’ll be in every newsletter.
And to kick things off, the first person to submit an event gets a week of promotion for everyone’s favorite price of $0. Let’s go!

City Council puts yearlong pause on short-term rental licenses

Naptown Scoop
I hope all that furniture you bought for your new downtown Airbnb can be returned because if you don’t have a license, you’re not gonna be a Superhost anytime soon.
The Annapolis City Council put a 12-month long moratorium ($) on new non-owner-occupied STR licenses at Monday’s meeting. We’re not sure why they can’t just call it a pause, either.
STRs have been a hot topic ever since Planning and Zoning’s August 2025 report that revealed only half of Annapolis STRs are licensed. P&Z told City Council in February that 65% are now licensed.
Proponents of the bill said they want to make sure the time is used to study the overall issue for a comprehensive solution. Opponents say it doesn’t do anything to combat bad actors who operate without licenses.
Worth noting: The bill only applies to non-owner-occupied units (think investment properties) and it does not impact renewing your existing license or revoke anyone’s license. Pending licenses (applied for but not approved) will not be processed in this 12-month period.

Local trivia 🥯
One of my favorite Annapolis St. Patrick’s traditions is Naval Bagels handing out green bagels at the parade.

JUST FOR FUN
Dog of the week: Meet Lucho 🐾
Lucho’s gorgeous grey coat — which shines like the sun — made us do a double take.
Then his puppy-like stare totally sold us. Meet Lucho, a 3-year-old, extra-large male Cane Corso who’ll steal your heart. Rescued cold, skinny, and scared, he’s blossomed into a loving, smart, always-up-for-an-adventure, people-oriented companion who knows commands like sit, wait, leave it, and let’s go. He is still working on his leash skills and manners.
Speaking of leashes, Lucho’s very large so he’ll need a strong handler with cane corso experience. He’d also do best in a home without small children
Lucho has been at the SPCA since January 2025.

In other news. . .
💪 Soft opening: Augie’s Mussel House & Sports Bar is now open at Annapolis Town Center. The Belgian-inspired spot has mussels or clams 11 ways along with elevated sports bar fare. Check out the menu.
⛵ Good neighbors: Annapolis Boat Shows is giving anyone who shops at Dock Street businesses in the month of March 2 tickets to the Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show (April 24–26).
🚃 It’s electric? Annapolis & Anne Arundel County are splitting the bill on a feasibility study for an electric streetcar system in downtown Annapolis. ($)
⚽ Go for it: The Annapolis Blues women’s team is hosting open tryouts this weekend. The season includes five home games which are always well-attended.

THANKS!
Thanks for reading Naptown Scoop today. If you found something useful, please share it with someone who says they’re from Annapolis but doesn’t have the zip code.
Fun fact: I grew up on the Eastern Shore and told everyone at college in South Carolina I was from Annapolis because more people knew it. Well that went fine until I met David Reese, who knew where both Centreville and Annapolis were. From then on, every time I introduced myself as from Annapolis, David would loudly interrupt, “He’s from NEAR Annapolis.”
