Good morning, Annapolis. You didn’t win the Powerball either, eh? Although that’s exactly what someone who won and didn’t want anyone to know would say. . . 🤔
In today’s Naptown Scoop:

Let’s get to it.

TGAPSCC2023 Punch Card Update

Good news and bad news. The bad news is that 25 completed punch cards have been submitted and accepted by TGAPSCC2023’s caffeination verification team. That means all the free Drink Local or Die Trying shirts are gone. But there’s good news.
We still have plenty of shirts and TGAPSCC2023 goes until November 3!
If you submit a completed punch card now, instead of getting a free shirt, you get a code for 25% off in the TGAPSCC2023 shop. And remember, proceeds from TGAPSCC2023 support Annapolis Hope and Rising Tide Society.
So keep caffeinating local. Keep an eye on the evil empire (Starbucks). And Don’t Give up the Scoop!

THE DIGEST
Annapolis Hope kickoff
Tonight is a very important night. At 5 PM at the Annapolis Maritime Museum’s Park Campus, a group of Annapolitans making a real difference will gather around a shared mission. It’s the Annapolis Hope kickoff event (what’s Annapolis Hope?). Who should come to this? Anyone on this list:
People who want to personally financially support Annapolis Hope
People who want to volunteer to help Annapolis Hope
People working for organizations that want to financially support Annapolis Hope
People who want to help Annapolis Hope in any way they can
We’re gathering to celebrate Annapolis Hope’s successful start—over $20k raised so far. But this is just the beginning of Annapolis Hope. In the famous (and somewhat modified) words of John Paul Jones, “[We] have not yet begun to fight!”
5–8 PM @ 7300 Edgewood Rd, Annapolis MD 21403. Get tickets.
Scholarship alert for world travelers 🗺️
The Rotary Club of Annapolis is offering a $30,000 scholarship to a local graduate student studying abroad. Your studies must fit with one of Rotary International’s focus areas, AKA peace, disease, sanitation, mothers and children, education, local economies, or the environment. Applications are due by Halloween October 31 and interviews will take place in November. Download an application here and then email it here.
Featured 5K: Y Turkey Trot
Is your family one of those ones that runs races on holidays? If so. . .
a) I’m sorry.
b) Have you heard of the Y Turkey Trot?
The race is Thanksgiving morning at 8:30 AM at the Y in Arnold and proceeds support the Y Open Doors Fund. The fund enables access and inclusion in healthy Y programs for all. Registration does include a free month’s membership at the Y which is pretty awesome. Do it before October 31 for the early bird discount!

SPONSORED BY ANNAPOLIS BOAT SHOWS
A celebration of sailing ⛵
From October 12 to 15, City Dock isn't just the center of Annapolis. It's the center of the entire sailing universe. That's because it hosts the Annapolis Sailboat Show – a show with more multihulls than any other boat show.
Among those innovative cats, you can explore vast displays of sleek monohulls, cruisers, race boats, dinghies, and more.
Some other highlights:
Cruisers Creating Content Booth where you can meet sailors cruising the world and documenting their adventures on video.
Pride of Baltimore II, the true flagship of Maryland, on display and open for tours.
Sounds like a great weekend to me. Buy tickets online to skip the wait at the gate and save a few bucks!

Annapolis Jazz & Roots Festival returns 🎷
Annapolis didn’t always have a jazz festival. That’s why the first-ever Annapolis Jazz & Roots Festival in 2022 was as important as it was fun. And why we’re just as jazzed that it returns again November 3–12. There are two weekends of music across Eastport venues:
November 3–5: Halley’s Hot Gumbo Swingtet at Peerless Rens Club, Nyame Nti at Eastport-Annapolis Neck Library, and Ronn McFarlane at Eastport United Methodist Church
November 11–13: Melodic Intersect at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Hazel Mitchell-Bell at Eastport United Methodist Church, and “Bossa Nova and Beyond” at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
That’s just a sneak peek. Learn more and grab tickets here.
