Collagen Doesn't Take a Summer Break
As we move into brighter, sunnier months, many patients assume they need to pause skin treatments—but that’s not always the case. At Current Dermatology and Cosmetic Center, SkinPen microneedling is one of our favorite spring and summer-safe options.
SkinPen microneedling works by creating controlled micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating natural skin remodeling and your body’s own collagen production. As collagen and elastin break down with age, this process helps improve texture, minimize pores, and enhance overall skin quality without using heat or light energy that increases sun sensitivity.
SkinPen is safe for all skin types and tones, even during months with higher UV exposure. With little to no downtime, most patients quickly return to their normal routine, often wearing sunscreen and makeup the very next day with minimal visible evidence of treatment.
Within days, skin develops a healthy glow, becoming stronger, smoother, and more youthful-looking over time. Think of it as collagen maintenance through the warmer months—keeping your skin healthy, resilient, and radiant.

Naval Academy Athletics
Last time this happened, Dwight Eisenhower had just created America’s Interstate system. Saturday afternoon in Pittsburgh, the Cincinnati Bengals took Mids nose guard Landon Robinson at pick 226. Four picks later, the Pittsburgh Steelers grabbed running back/receiver Eli Heidenreich at 230. Both kids are going home — Robinson grew up in Akron, Heidenreich in Pittsburgh — and just like that, the two became Navy's first NFL Draft duo in 70 years.
The hometown crowd lost their minds. When Heidenreich emerged from backstage, there was seven solid minutes of applause before ESPN could interview him.
Robinson's pick had its own goosebumps moment because the Pat Tillman Foundation announced it. Tillman went 226th to the Cardinals in 1998, then left the NFL to enlist as an Army Ranger. He was killed in Afghanistan in 2004.
Both can suit up immediately. A 2025 rule change allows each military academy to send a maximum of 5 students into pro sports while serving in the Selected Reserve to assist in military recruiting.
Both players were key ingredients in Navy’s incredible season last year. Robinson was a first-team All-American and American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year; Heidenreich rewrote Navy’s receiving record book. The team finished ranked #23 with an 11-2 record and of course, the Commander-in-Chief’s trophy.

GOVERNMENT
🏛️ Tonight’s City Council meeting: budget season begins
City Council's gaveling in tonight and next year’s budget is the main character.
Mayor Littmann and the Council kick off public hearings on the FY27 budget at 7 PM — property tax rates, fines, fees, and city employee compensation are all on the table. This is the start of budget season and it must be passed by June 30 so this is your time to weigh in.
A couple other items on the docket:
Street cafes: A first reader updates the fee structure for the outdoor dining setups that pop up downtown each spring.
Moorings: A second reader tweaks how the 75-foot spacing rule is measured across Spa Creek, Back Creek, and Weems Creek.
Before the budget talk, the Council will honor Captain Jennifer Kaye on her retirement from the Schooner Woodwind and recognize nurse Jackie Maloney for saving someone in cardiac arrest at PAL Park.
Want in? The meeting's at City Hall (160 Duke of Gloucester Street). Public business starts at 7 PM. Public comment is limited to three minutes per person. Sign up at City Hall 30 minutes before the meeting. Watching from the couch works too — stream on the city's YouTube or Facebook, Comcast 99/100, or Verizon 34.

In other news. . .
🪨 In case you missed it (big news from last week): Luxury furniture store Gabby is closing at Annapolis Town Center, Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium is getting a Harrier to be friends with the Blue Angel, and Ruth’s Chris is moving from Eastport to the Annapolis Town Center.
👥 Mayor grows team: Mayor Jared Littmann tapped a familiar face for his executive team this week. Ian Pfeiffer — the former Ward 7 alderman who served on the Council from 2009 to 2017 — started Thursday as Deputy Chief of Staff. Pfeiffer comes from the State Innovation Exchange, where he was Director for the State of MD. His new gig pays $123,191 annually.
😷 Measles in Maryland: Two locals tested positive for measles after recent out-of-state travel. And while the MD Health Department says they live in the “Baltimore metro area,” it also listed 10 places you might have been exposed between April 12 and 21, all in Anne Arundel County. Check out the department’s website for the list of places and symptoms to watch for.
🏆 Back to the title: Down 21-0? No problem for Navy men's rugby. They scored 35 unanswered second-half points to beat fourth-ranked Life University 35-21 in Saturday's national semifinal. It's the second-ranked Mids' third national championship trip in four years. Five different Navy players scored tries. Next stop: Indianapolis this Saturday, facing top-ranked and defending champ Cal (UC Berkeley) for the title.
