TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Annapolis. These are the top three kinds of mac & cheese and you’ll never change my mind:

  1. Mom’s recipe

  2. Lobster mac & cheese

  3. Fried mac & cheese bites

In today’s Naptown Scoop:

  • Dillo’s building hits market

  • Renn Fest tickets going fast

  • Theater Talk Tuesday

Let’s get to it.

People love Pink’s

I sat down to write something for Pink’s. . . then I started reading through their 170 five-star reviews and found this one:

Pinks Window Services did an absolutely incredible job on my 33 windows, 3 sliding doors and 3 skylights including the screens. The windows looked so clear and amazing that you couldn’t tell the windows had screens. In fact, the dining room windows were so clear that I threw out my drapes so I can see more of the Chesapeake Bay. They are worth every penny and I plan to have them return every year in the spring. Many of my neighbors stopped by to check it out.

Imagine window cleaners so good they make you toss the drapes. If you have filthy windows, clogged gutters, a streaky roof, or anything grimy on your homes exterior, Pink’s is the crew to call

BUN VOYAGE

Forget food trucks. Annapolis now has a food boat

The Burger Boat Company has been building custom luxury yachts in Manitowoc, Wisconsin since 1863. The burger boat in the picture above has been flipping burgers on the Magothy River since last week.

The SS Soggy Bunz – the floating branch of Toby Denues’ Soggy Bunz BBQ-and-smashburger trailer – has been making waves (sorry) on local waterways lately. Tonight, it’s celebrating its official grand opening and ribbon cutting at the only floating concert series in Annapolis, Tunesday!

  • 🚣‍♂️ The 411: Tunesday happens on Back Creek. The burger flipping starts around 5 PM. The music (Ryan Keith this week) starts around 90 minutes before sunset which means around 7 PM tonight. The stage (aka Chronic Sailing catamaran) will be anchored near the giant blue water tower.

What’s on the menu? Smashburgers, soggy smashburgers (add brisket or pulled pork), wieners, soggy wieners, pulled chicken and pork, and maybe even a smashburger quesadilla. As their trademarked slogan says, “From the boat to your throat!”

P.S. They even have online ordering! Check it out at soggybunz.com

MUCH ADO ABOUT SOMETHING

Theater Talk Tuesday 🎭

Annapolis theater has moved outside for the summer – everything on a local stage this week plays under the open sky. Pack the bug spray.

Now playing. . .

Molière's con-man comedy has just five dates left: July 28, August 4, 11, 18, and 25. Seating opens at 6:30, and there's a $25 per-person food and drink minimum. Dinner and a show – enforced.

Up next. . .

🧚 Compass Rose Theater presents A Midsummer Night's Dream on the lawn at Historic London Town & Gardens, opening Friday. Six outdoor performances July 31–August 9: Fridays at 6:30 PM, weekends at 5:30 PM. Adults $25, students $15, under five free. Bring a blanket or rent a chair for $5 – concessions include BBQ sliders, beer, and wine.

📚 Maryland Hall presents An Evening with David Sedaris, Friday, August 7 at 7:30 PM in the Main Theatre. The bestselling humorist, one night only.

⚙️ The Talent Machine Company presents The Talent Machine Show, August 14–23 at AACC's Kauffman Theater. The show that gave the company its name, with a cast ages 7–14 and a production team stacked with alumni. All tickets $20, and the August 16 matinee has ASL interpreters.

SPONSORED BY THE PENINSULA ATHLETIC LEAGUE

An Annapolis Institution since 1975

Nope, it’s not McGarvey’s (founded June 19, 1975).

It’s not the Annapolis Watercolor Club either (also founded 1975).

I’m talking about PAL Hawks Football.

For over fifty years, they’ve been teaching kids character and teamwork the way only a football field can. Here’s the deal.

It’s open for kids ages 8–14 and is $175 for the entire season. But you have to act fast.

Registration closes July 31. All games are played right here in Annapolis so there’s no traveling and we hear there’s a mean concession stand.

DOCK MARKET

For sale: 132 Dock Street

Photo: LoopNet

Want to own or lease some restaurant real estate in downtown Annapolis? 2026 is a good year for it.

The building at 132 Dock St, home of Armadillo's Bar & Grill, has been listed for sale on LoopNet. The price? If you have to ask you can’t afford to know. JK, you just have to call the broker. Don’t worry, Dillo’s fans. The business isn’t for sale, just the building.

And it's not alone. Annapolis restaurant real estate is suddenly a busy scene:

  • O'Learys Seafood is closing August 2 after losing its lease, ending a 43-year run in Eastport. The 310 Third St building is up for lease at a little over $17,300 a month.

  • Tsu (the sushi bar you probably still call Tsunami) and its 51 West St building hit the market this month after 25+ years. Someone could just buy the building and continue leasing it to Tsu so this doesn’t necessarily mean the end is near.

Worth noting: You probably won’t have Atlas Restaurant Group as competition for these spots. An Atlas spokesperson told the Baltimore Banner they aren’t interested in Tsu or O’Learys and we doubt 132 Dock would have hit the open market if they were.

In other news. . .

🏰 Queue the Trumpets – Renn Fest tickets went on sale Monday morning, and by noon the online line was nearly an hour long. The 50th season runs weekends August 29–October 25 in Crownsville, adult tickets are $31 plus fees, and every Saturday in October was waitlist-only by mid-afternoon. The good news: that was only 75% of each day's tickets. More drop at 10 AM the Monday before each weekend, plus the Friday before.

🎭 Encore, Encore – Children's Theatre of Annapolis is throwing its first-ever alumni showcase this Saturday. CTA Legends brings 17 alumni back to the Bay Head Park stage for live performances and behind-the-scenes stories from the company's 67-year history. Saturday, August 1 at 7 PM, about two hours, suggested for all ages. Assigned seating runs $10 a person.

👮 Neighborhood Watch Party – National Night Out is Tuesday, August 4, and the closest block party is at Annapolis Mall, where county police's Southern District hosts from 6 to 8 PM. All four district events are free and family-friendly – food, activities, and face time with the officers who patrol your neighborhood. Kinder Farm Park, Crofton Country Club, and 10th Avenue Park in Brooklyn Park round out the list.

➗ Prime Time – Maryland has a new math policy, and AACPS is hosting three Math Family Nights to explain what it means for your student – how elementary, middle, and high school math will change, and the resources available to help at home. Sessions start at 6 PM: August 4 at Severn Run High, August 5 at Lindale Middle, and August 6 at South River High. Register here.
