INFRASTRUCTURE
City Dock finally gets FEMA grant
That sound you heard Friday was everyone in the city budget office breathing a massive sigh of relief.
Annapolis broke ground on the $87 million City Dock revitalization last November without a major piece of the funding puzzle – $35.5 million in the form of a hazard mitigation grant from FEMA.
Friday morning, a huge delegation featuring city leadership, county leadership, US representatives and senators, former US representatives and senators, and state legislators gathered at City Dock to announce that FEMA has finally signed off on the grant.
Mayor Jared Littmann said during his campaign that he was committed to finishing the project even without the grant but during Friday’s press conference admitted, “I am so relieved frankly” to much laughter.
Other funding for City Dock includes another $12 million in federal funds, $10 million in state funds, $2 million from Anne Arundel County, $3 million from a private donor, and $24 million through a public-private partnership backed by city parking revenue.

Boston U shocks Navy with crazy buzzer beater

CBS Sports
March basketball rocks. Buzzer beaters, #1 seeds getting upset, and freshmen yearning to make a name for themselves. Except, of course, when your team’s on the wrong side of the story. . .
Heartbreaker: The fourth seed in the Patriot League Tournament marched into Alumni Hall and stunned #1 seed Navy yesterday. BU freshman Chance Gladden sunk a deep three with less than a second remaining to give the Terriers a 73-72 victory.
Video of the shot is one of the week’s most watched clips on CBS social media.
BU now heads to the Patriot League Championship against Lehigh with an automatic invite to NCAA Tournament bid on the line. This one hurts.

🐝 Orthographic supremacy: Crofton Middle School’s Quint Karlsson won his third straight Anne Arundel County Spelling bee. His final word? Tortillon. Looks easy until you learn it’s pronounced tor-tee-yōn. Quint will now represent Anne Arundel in the National Spelling Bee in DC this May.
