TOGETHER WITH
Good morning, Annapolis. We did a deep dive on the Savannah Bananas after reporting that the Banana Ball World Tour is coming to town this summer and honestly, we can’t stop thinking about the fact that the Bananas haven’t played a single game that wasn’t sold out since 2016 which includes games at several huge NFL and college football stadiums.
In today’s Naptown Scoop:
Another local marina sold
What else does ATC’s new owner own
Redistricting public hearings
Let’s get to it.

THE DIGEST

Western Shore Veterinary Hospital offers your pets the finest wellness care, state-of-the-art diagnostics, dental treatment, and surgery ranging from spays/neuters to sophisticated treatments. You can find them online, by phone at 443-936-0660, or at 910C Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401.
Dog of the Week: Meet Nina

Nina wants you to come closer so she can get a good look at you - you’re looking so fit! Let her kiss your cheeks - she can’t help herself. Do you want to snuggle a bit? Her blanky is right here - let her wrap you up in it. Maybe the two of you should order in and watch Cruella again. Should you get in a quick workout couch rotting? Maybe 3 miles? Just a quick one around the neighborhood, let’s go.
Nina is a pittie lovebug looking for her forever person. She’s a bit of a Smother Mother, so she will do best with adult-only children who are looking to replicate childhood security, or adult middle siblings who are seeking the attention and validation they lacked growing up. Eldest daughters and youngest siblings need not apply. Nina wants to hang out in the kitchen with you while you cook; she wants to help you pick out the best outfit for your next hot date; she wants to make cameos on your WFH Zoom calls that make you look like a responsible employee to your boss.
If you’re ready for a dog to make you all theirs, Nina is your girl. We can’t believe she’s been at the SPCA since 2021, but we know once you lay eyes on her, you’ll want to make her all yours.

NAPTOWN SCOOP LOCAL BUSINESS IS POWERED BY. . .
What else does Federal Realty own? 🧐
ICYMI, we shared the news yesterday that Annapolis Town Center was sold for $187 million. It was bought by Federal Realty, which handles retail and mixed-use markets. And in case you really did miss it, don’t worry, because Annapolis Town Center is already up on Federal Realty’s website under the list of properties it manages. This is only the second retail center Federal has in Anne Arundel County, the other being Governor Plaza in Glen Burnie. But it has quite a few others throughout Maryland and the rest of the country.
Elsewhere in Maryland, it has 16 properties. Some highlights among them are:
📍 Largest: Pike & Rose in North Bethesda, approximately 898K square feet
📍 Smallest: Tie between Courthouse Center in Rockville and the Shoppes at Nottingham Square I & II in Baltimore, both about 33K square feet
📍 Farthest from Annapolis: Quince Orchard in Gaithersburg (approx. 50 miles)
📍 Closest to Annapolis (besides Governor Plaza): Laurel Shopping Center in Laurel (approx. 20 miles)
But that’s just in Maryland — Federal Realty also manages properties as far away as California. The farthest farthest away property is the Del Monte Shopping Center in Monterey.
Casa Rio Marina under new ownership 🚤
Casa Rio Marina in Edgewater is the latest local boatyard to change hands recently, and even though the names of the new owners aren’t yet public, Hyatt Commercial Real Estate Broker — which represented the seller — said the new owners are a longstanding local marine service operator and his son. The two of them plan to continue the marina’s service established by the previous second-generation family ownership. The 6.5-acre property with 35+ wet slips and 200+ on-land storage spaces sold for $4.6 million.
Just last week: The Baltimore Business Journal reported that the Edgewater-based Brick Companies sold its three Anne Arundel County marinas to private equity-backed Grove Point Marinas.

Any leftover donations will be donated to local food pantries. Drop off location is 199 Taylor Avenue.

CIVIL NEWS
Reminder: Board of Education meeting
Tonight’s Board of Education meeting is a big one because the board will be hearing presentations on both redistricting and revising this year’s calendar. Public comment will not be heard on redistricting but the board will release a public hearing schedule afterwards. Adoption is scheduled for this November with implementation starting next year. See the full agenda.
As always, Board of Education meetings happen in the Board Room at the Parham Building – 2644 Riva Road, Annapolis, MD 21401.
City Council Meeting Recap
City Council packed two big debates into Monday night’s meeting. First, it passed what Ward 1 alderman Harry Huntley called the city’s “strictest crackdown yet” on short-term rentals — limiting them to 10% of any blockface and launching a lottery in 2027 to trim existing licenses to the 10% limit.
Then there was the City Dock drama: the council approved the Comprehensive Plan update after stripping a proposal to raise building heights which would have enabled a long-planned hotel where Latitude 38 is now. Ward 7 alderman Rob Savidge tacked on a hefty amendment requiring some new developments to help pay for transportation improvements
Two city charter amendments were also introduced to modernize how aldermen set their own pay (and keep the City Manager’s salary out of it).
Next meeting: 6 PM on October 27th.

NAVY SPORTS
Navy’s 2026 American Conference pairings revealed
I know we’re smack dab in the middle of the glorious current Navy football season and believe me, I want to ride these good vibes as far as they’ll go. But college football plans way ahead and so the 2026 American Conference schedule pairings were just revealed. Remember, even though they’re in the conference, Army doesn’t count as a conference opponent.
Navy will face Memphis, North Texas, Temple, and Tulsa at home. And on the road: UAB, Charlotte, Florida Atlantic, and University of Texas San Antonio. This year’s full schedule with dates was revealed in early 2025 so we expect the same for next year.
Upcoming games
