Gladchuk Honored with Navy Distinguished Public Service Award
During the U.S. Naval Academy Foundation's bi-annual board meeting last week, former Navy Athletic Association director Chet Gladchuk was recognized with the Navy Distinguished Public Service Award – the highest honor the Navy can give a civilian. Gladchuk’s 24 years of work with Navy Athletics helped make it one of the most respected collegiate athletic programs in the United States, raising more than $225 million over the years and upgrading facilities and equipment. "Chet built an athletic program that is the envy of every Division I school in the country," said Ron Terwilliger '63, chairman of the Foundation's Board of Directors. "Chet understood the valuable purpose of athletics at Navy — to prepare student-athletes as leaders in the Navy and Marine Corps.”
Nonprofit beneficiary wanted 💎
Lots of kids are putting the finishing touches on their wish lists for Santa right now. But this is also a time for nonprofits to consider their big wants, too. That’s because the Rotary Club is seeking a beneficiary for its 2027 Black Tie and Diamonds Gala. This big fancy fundraiser in the spring helps generate revenue every year for a nonprofit organization and its mission and projects — and yours could be it for next year. If you’re with a certified 501(c)3, submit an application before December 15.

Huge game in Annapolis this Saturday. Navy (7-2) hosts #24 USF (also 7-2) in a pivotal American Conference clash — and the Mids are expecting star QB Blake Horvath back. Horvath missed last week’s Notre Dame game but has lead the nation’s top rushing offense beautifully this season.
It’s Senior Day for a 28-man class that helped bring winning football back to the Yard. And the importance of this game cannot be understated. Navy must win to keep American Conference championship hopes alive. USF is favored by 9.5 points at the sportsbooks but don’t ever count this Navy team out.
Kickoff is noon at Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Face value tickets are sold out but resale tickets are available for $50+ as of press time.
Cross country state champs 🏃🏻♀️🏃♂️
Severna Park girls cross country dashed to a record-breaking Class 3A championship with just 35 points, led by Josie Kamas (also the girls county champ) and teammates Lexi Fitzsimmons, Mari Matthews, Kathryn Murphy, and Lila Sandel — proving teamwork really goes the extra mile. Meanwhile, Severn Run cross country senior Tre Kelly blazed a trail to become his school’s first 4A state champion, finishing in 16:09.27. Both teams overcame tough courses and rainy conditions, celebrating personal and collective triumphs on the biggest stage. Congrats to all! ($)
