It's Buy Local Week π½π³ π¦
Did you know this week (July 18β28) is Buy Local Week in Maryland? Governor Wes Moore celebrated last week by hosting the Governorβs Buy Local Cookout (check out the menu). Arundel Ag and AAEDC celebrated over the weekend with A Taste of Arundel Grown at Homestead Gardens.
So how will you celebrate?
Buy Local Week is all about encouraging Marylanders to incorporate at least one locally grown, produced, or harvested product into their meals each day. To do our part to celebrate and connect these hard-working growers and producers with you lot, weβre spotlighting one local business each day this week.
First up:
Morris Hill Farm π³
Morris Hill Farm is all about humanely pasture and forest-raised meats without hormones, steroids, or antibiotics in their farming practices. Morris Hillβs goal is βto protect our environment, produce a clean high quality product, and provide an enriched life for our animals.β
You can buy Morris Hillβs products (chicken, eggs, duck, beef, turkey, lamb) at the Severna Park Farmers Market on Saturdays or the Anne Arundel County Farmer's Market on Saturdays and Sundays.
Whatβs even better? Check out their home delivery options.
Scoop Head of Content Chelsea, here. Iβve been buying from David and Vicki (owner/farmers of Morris Hill) for years now and here are some of my faves: Maple Breakfast Links, Pulled Pork in BBQ Sauce, Sweet Heat Snack Sticks, Delmonico Steaks, Griller Bundle . . . oh, and the eggs are divine!
Watch this space for more ideas of how to shop & eat local this week! βCH

THE DIGEST
Doggone good training πΎ

We love a good story about a boat. We love a good story about dogs. So wait until we tell you about what happened on Watermarkβs Harbor Queen last week. The tour company teamed up with the Bowie Police Dept., the Dorchester County Sheriffβs Dept., and volunteers from Chesapeake K-9 for bloodhound training.
Cooper and Meadow got sniffs of a Harbor Queen steering wheel swab in the parking lot. As part of their training process, they were able to follow their noses through the parking lot, down the dock, onto the boat, and straight to the source β no easy feat with all the smells and distractions downtown.
